Class Descriptions

*Although some classes are more physically demanding than others, all levels of experience are welcome in all of our classes

Hatha Yoga (Gentle to moderate) – This class combines physical asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and relaxation to improve health, reduce stress, and increase flexibility. Core postures will be introduced and explored. We will focus on the meditative aspects of yoga as well as the benefits acquired through relaxation and stretching. Come to relax and detoxify through holding yoga postures and moving through slow transitions that will leave you restored and replenished.  All levels are welcome.

Svaroopa Yoga (Gentle) – Svaroopa yoga is a non-athletic form of Hatha yoga where flexibility is not a requirement – it is a result. Poses are done with the support of soft blankets, safely and effectively releasing the deepest layers of tension in the body along the spine. The result is deep relaxation and healing for body, mind and soul.  All levels are welcome.

Hatha Flow Yoga (Moderate) – This class focuses on joining our energies into union, into oneness. Through breath work, asanas (postures) and guided visualization this class works to balance and harmonize our body, mind and spirit. Drawing on our intuition, animal nature and seasonal changes, this class takes the practitioner on a themed journey. Each class can vary in level of physical rigor depending on the theme and season, always incorporating a fluid flow sequence in the middle, book-ended by longer held asanas. All levels are welcome.

Ashtanga Flow (Moderate to Vigorous) – This class is slower than a traditional Ashtanga class, but is still vigorous. Students will be guided through many postures of the primary series, as well as some postures from other series, depending on the level of the students.  Students will be encouraged to move with attention and to bring awareness to how the body and mind respond during the practice.  As well, there will be a focus on strength and alignment.  All levels are welcome.

Mom & Baby Yoga (Gentle) – Mom and Baby Yoga is for Moms at all levels of ability.  This class reduces tension in the shoulders and strengthens your core muscles and pelvic floor.  No previous yoga experience required.  Babies from birth up to crawling.

Yoga for Boomers (Gentle) – Re-store, re-energize and relax your body, quiet your mind and elevate your spirit in this 90 minute class.  Designed for those 50 years and over, awareness, flexibility and strength will be developed.  We’ll focus on breath, body awareness, relaxation, stretching and gentle postures finishing with meditation to rejuvenate the body and mind.  All levels are welcome.

Tai Chi (Gentle) – Tai Chi is open to people of all fitness levels interested in improving strength, balance, and overall health. Concentrating while practicing the series of movements is a great way to release stress and relax both body and mind. Wear comfortable clothing and solid footwear.

Yoga for Every Body (Gentle to Moderate) – Come and explore the ancient practice of yoga that gently restores and rejuvenates the body, mind and spirit.  You will be introduced to simple poses and breath work that reduce the effects of stress and disease associated with modern living.  No prior yoga experience is required… just the desire to give yourself this gift of good health.


Restorative Yoga (Gentle) – A soothing and slow practice developed to rejuvenate your physical and emotional health through deep relaxation and healing. Postures are practiced in passive manner with the support of yoga props such as bolsters and blankets and comfortably held for extended periods of time.  All levels are welcome.

Yin/Yang Yoga (Gentle to moderate) – Designed to offer the balancing effects of yin (passive) and yang (active) styles of yoga.  This class draws upon the more internal, quiet and longer held postures, balanced with the more active, moving and dynamic or heat producing yoga postures to create a wholistic body experience.  All levels are welcome.

Kripalu Yoga (Gentle to moderate) – Kripalu Yoga puts a great emphasis on the mechanics of Yoga – proper breath and alignment – as well as in the inner, spiritual dimensions of Yogic practice. Students are encouraged to honor “the wisdom of the body” and to work according to the limits of their individual flexibility and strength. Kripalu Yoga develops the body, mind and spirit in a compassionate and non-judgmental way. You leave the class feeling uplifted and centered.  All levels are welcome.

Vinyasa Yoga (Moderate to vigorous) – Vinyasa is a dynamic yoga practice that incorporates a rhythmic combination of poses linked with the breath while simultaneously emphasizing alignment, balance, stamina and strength. This deeply flowing style encourages breath awareness as it opens and warms the body.  This class is not recommended for beginners who are not reasonably fit.

Prenatal Yoga (Gentle) – Prepare mind, body, spirit and emotions for the transformative experience of birthing! Yoga is the perfect exercise for pregnancy to prepare the body for giving birth, alleviate pregnancy related discomfort, and give moms a repertory of positions to use during labour and delivery. Wear comfortable clothing.

Yin Yoga (Gentle) – Yin Yoga is less about fitness and strength, and more about stillness and meditation. The class uses delicate and sustained pressure to create changes in your connective tissues, making them more flexible and less stiff and brittle.  During this class, you will hold poses for longer periods of time, which opens the energy meridians and allows for deep healing.  Prana and meditation are heavily drawn upon. All levels are welcome.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga (Moderate to vigorous) – Vinyasa Flow is an energetic class, typically opening with some gentle poses, and working though heat-building sequences in the core of the session.  Come and start your day by saluting the sun.  Reset your busy mind chatter.  Awaken the innermost fire.  Surrender and find balance to bound into your day with. All levels are welcome.
