Nestled in a postcard-perfect setting along the Gatineau River, the bilingual village of Wakefield possesses a mellow and friendly atmosphere created by its residents and nurtured by its surroundings. Despite its small stature, Wakefield offers the visitor everything he or she needs, so there is no need to drive elsewhere for necessities or entertainment. Within the village, there is a wide variety of shops, artists and boutiques, as well as several restaurants and pubs offering anything from fine dining to take-out pizza. Wakefield is also home to the famous Black Sheep Inn, well known for its live music.

Ottawa’s 150 year-old Parliament Buildings are adorned with intricate carvings, gargoyles and friezes and have been called the “purest example of Gothic Revival architecture” in the Western hemisphere. The buildings are well worth a guided tour.
Ottawa is well-known for its amazing outdoor activities, including cycling, roller-blading and walking trails. In winter, the Rideau Canal becomes the world’s longest skating rink where you can join hundreds who use the Canal for pleasure or even as their daily route to work! Enjoy a hot drink at one of several canal-side cafes without even taking off your skates!
Ottawa is a great city for shopping and dining, with hundreds of restaurants, bars, dance clubs, live music venues, shopping, and more. Browse the Byward Market for great finds in the summer, or grab a delicious Beavertail as a winter snack!
If you’re in the mood for a little glitz, glamour and gambling, visit the nearby Casino du Lac Leamy, only 15 minutes from La Grange. This world class casino is one of the biggest and most extravagant in Canada!
